The Milwaukee Hip-Hop Archive Project received the Governor’s Archives Award for Archival Innovation from the Wisconsin Historical Society, and this is huge news for not only Milwaukee Hip Hop but Hip Hop Culture as a whole!


This isn't just about an award; it's about the vital recognition of Hip Hop as a significant American cultural force and the groundbreaking efforts to preserve its rich legacy for generations to come.


A core component of this project is its focus on education and empowerment. TRUE Skool Interns were directly involved in the archival sessions, learning the process of preserving history.

We are building a new model for how communities can take charge of their own cultural narratives. This amplification has been a call to action to continue gathering and uplifting these vital stories and that this legacy work will continually resonate for centuries to come!
